Garrett Mitchell, M.D.
Dr. Garrett Mitchell is an orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in shoulder and elbow reconstruction. He will be joining Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists in September 2025, and is scheduling appointments for new patients now.
Dr. Mitchell specializes in treatment for rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, elbow tendinitis, and fractures. He has advanced training in Tendon transfers for massive rotator cuff tears, Internal and external fixation for unstable and complex elbow injuries, and Shoulder and elbow arthroplasty, including revision procedures.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. Most recently, he completed his Shoulder & Elbow Surgery Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Mitchell has been published in peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and has presented nationally on topics ranging from fracture management to the impact of social determinants on surgical outcomes. He also volunteers extensively in outreach programs and medical education efforts.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mitchell enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, biking, cooking, playing board games, watching sports and movies, and traveling with his wife.
