Ulnar Nerve Release

What is Ulnar Nerve Release?

If you’re experiencing numbness and tingling in your hands, particularly in your small and ring fingers, you may need to undergo elbow release surgery, or ulnar nerve release. This is also called ulnar transposition at the elbow. This elbow treatment option will relieve the numbness and tingling in your hands by releasing the constricting bands of tissue that surround the ulnar nerve at the elbow. Your surgeon may relocate the nerve to the front of your elbow to prevent it from getting compressed again following the surgery.

Following elbow release surgery, your surgeon may recommend that you wear a sling or splint to stabilize your elbow during your recovery.
