Our Sports Medicine Team Is Growing: Welcome Dr. Bryan Mitchell and Dr. Joseph Labrum
We’re excited to welcome two experienced orthopedic sports medicine surgeons to Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists this September: Bryan S. Mitchell, MD, FAAOS, and Joseph Labrum, MD.
Both physicians have spent years caring for patients in the Spokane area and bring established experience in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. Their addition builds on the strength of our existing sports medicine team while expanding access to specialized orthopedic care for patients throughout Spokane and the Inland Northwest.
Appointments are now being scheduled for both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Labrum at our Downtown Spokane Clinic at 601 W. 5th Ave.
Meet Bryan S. Mitchell, MD
Dr. Bryan Mitchell is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopy. His clinical interests include hip, shoulder and knee conditions, with particular expertise in arthroscopic procedures and minimally invasive techniques.
Bryan S. Mitchell, MD
Dr. Mitchell has practiced in the Spokane area since 2011, caring for patients with a wide range of sports-related and orthopedic conditions. He brings extensive experience in hip and shoulder arthroscopy, knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus preservation, cartilage restoration and other minimally invasive orthopedic procedures.
He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Rochester and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Aspen Sports Medicine Foundation. Dr. Mitchell earned his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University and his Doctor of Medicine from Dartmouth College.
At NWOS, Dr. Mitchell will continue serving patients throughout the region while bringing his experience in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery to our growing team.
Meet Dr. Joseph Labrum
Joseph Labrum, MD
Dr. Joseph Labrum is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and joint reconstruction. His clinical interests include conditions of the shoulder, elbow and knee, including arthroscopic surgery, ligament and tendon repair and reconstruction, shoulder instability, cartilage restoration, fracture care, and joint replacement.
Dr. Labrum has practiced in Spokane since 2021 and has cared for athletes and active patients throughout the region. He has also served as a team physician for Eastern Washington University Athletics and the Spokane Chiefs.
He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Andrews Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Labrum earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Utah and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
At NWOS, Dr. Labrum will continue providing specialized shoulder, elbow, and knee care while adding further depth to our sports medicine and reconstructive orthopedic services.

Together, our team provides comprehensive care for athletes and active individuals of all ages—from student athletes and weekend warriors to patients looking to improve mobility, maintain their independence, and enjoy a better quality of life.
