Patient Story 1102

"I am a 48-year-old male and received a total knee replacement on my left leg sixteen days ago.   My joint pain was gone from the very first day and I was able to put full weight on it.  I was in the hospital for two days. After coming home, I used a walker for three days then switched to a cane for the next week. After that, I no longer needed the cane. My incision is healing nicely. I have been using the continuous passive motion machine and going to physical therapy as directed by my surgeon.   Through hard work, persistence, and the help of my physical therapist, I am quickly regaining my knee flexion.  I have had full extension since the day of surgery.  I am very thankful for Dr. Kody's skill and for the excellent treatment I received from his entire team.  The new knee feels exactly like my real knee did in my younger years.  There is no pain in the joint at all.  I was bow legged all my life and now my left leg is straight.  I am excited about getting my right knee replaced in the near future and look forward to living and sleeping without chronic pain in my knees.  I have full confidence that I will be able to return to my favorite activity (taking long evening walks with my wife) soon after my second surgery.  By the beginning of next summer, I will be slalom water skiing thanks to Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists." -- Dick E.
