"On October 13th, 2013, I crashed my bike. The MRI showed 2 pelvic fractures and a hip labral tear. I thought my shot at attempting Ironman Coeur d' Alene was over. I called Dr. VanderWilde's office and he called me back right away. He looked at the MRI himself and told me to get back on my bike (on the trainer of course), NOW!
Well, I was already back on my bike, but now, with permission. A later x-ray showed 3 fractures but that didn't matter. The healing 6.5 weeks out was more than good. Dr. VanderWilde knows how to treat us aspiring athletes and he was right about getting back in the saddle as quick as we did.
I am now 5 months and 3 days post crash and I just biked 3 hours plus out on the road. I may walk much of the run but I am back on track to start and finish Ironman Coeur d' Alene 2014. Thanks Russ!!!" -- Tricia M.
