Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists offers outpatient joint replacements

February 25, 2017

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists’ joint replacement experts are now offering outpatient joint replacement procedures at The Orthopaedic Surgery Center located downtown at 601 West Fifth Avenue, Suite 500.

In a traditional joint replacement, the patient stays in the hospital for several days before going home. In an outpatient joint replacement, the patient is able to go home hours after surgery. Benefits of the outpatient procedure include:

  • Allowing the patient to heal in the comfort of their own home
  • Reduced risk of infection from the hospital environment
  • Cost savings from the shortened stay

“We are proud to offer this option to eligible joint replacement patients,” says Dr. A. Kirk Reichard, joint replacement surgeon at Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists. “This is another example of Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists’ dedication to offering our patients the most advanced and state-of-the-art treatments and procedures.”

Henry H. Lin, M.D., hand, elbow and wrist surgeon and CEO of Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists, adds, “By offering this procedure in our outpatient center, we will be the cost leader for joint replacement, saving patients thousands of dollars over the inpatient procedure and driving down the cost of healthcare across the board.”

The Orthopaedic Surgery Center has been consistently ranked above the 90th percentile for exceptional patient satisfaction and performs over 10,000 procedures in their outpatient center every year.
